Community Development & Food Security
Sustainable development lies at the heart of OHDC's long-term strategy. Our food security initiatives address both immediate hunger and long-term agricultural sustainability. We provide drought-resistant seeds, training in modern farming techniques, support for irrigation systems, and access to markets. We've helped establish community grain banks, women's cooperatives for food processing, and nutrition education programs that have significantly reduced malnutrition rates in target areas.
Education & Youth Empowerment

Humanitarian Response: Sustaining Sudanese Refugees in Chad
The escalating conflict in Sudan has led to a significant influx of refugees into eastern Chad, exacerbating an already fragile humanitarian situation. OHDC is at the forefront of this crisis, providing critical, life-saving assistance to thousands of Sudanese refugees. Our comprehensive response aims to meet immediate needs and foster resilience in displaced communities, upholding dignity and ensuring protection for the most vulnerable.
Emergency Shelter & NFIs
Providing immediate, safe shelter solutions and essential non-food items like blankets, cooking utensils, and hygiene kits to newly arrived families.
Food Security & Nutrition
Implementing targeted food distributions and nutrition programs, including supplementary feeding for malnourished children and pregnant/lactating women.
Primary Healthcare Services
Operating mobile clinics and supporting existing health posts to offer primary care, vaccinations, and maternal and child health services.
Education & Child Protection
Establishing temporary learning spaces and safe zones for children, providing psychosocial support, and advocating for their right to education.
Protection & GBV Response
Offering specialized protection services, including gender-based violence prevention and response, and legal aid to ensure the safety and rights of refugees.
Impact and Outreach
Since the onset of the crisis, OHDC has scaled up its operations to deliver vital support. Our efforts have focused on reaching remote and underserved areas, ensuring no one is left behind. We work closely with local authorities, international partners, and community leaders to maximize our reach and impact.
Refugees Assisted
Provided emergency aid and services to over 150,000 Sudanese refugees.
Food Rations Distributed
Ensured food security with over 75,000 monthly food rations.
Medical Consultations
Delivered over 50,000 medical consultations in mobile and static clinics.
Children in Education
Supported over 10,000 children to access education and protection services.
Challenges and Sustainable Solutions
Operating in eastern Chad presents significant challenges, including logistical hurdles, resource scarcity, and security concerns. The vast distances and limited infrastructure make humanitarian delivery complex. OHDC addresses these by:
